In December 2005, 6 crafting buddies were enjoying dinner and discussing shows. We all agreed that we were tired of competing with "buy-sell" products at the shows. The topic evolved into what we could do about it. After an intense 3 hour discussion, the Arts & Crafts Celebration show was born. We were determined to promote a quality show with only handcrafted products.
The next thing on the agenda that was equally important to us was that the show would be crafter friendly. We wanted to make this a show where artists and crafters would feel important and that the promoters were taking care of them. We wanted to treat them the way we would like to be treated.
The third thing on our list was a little different. We wanted to give back to the community so we decided to donate a portion of the booth fees that we receive to the Hill City Boys and Girls Club. Where to have the show was another challenge. After going through all the possibilities, one spot stood out from the others. The 1880 Train in Hill City, SD. agreed to let us have the show on their grounds.
We are preparing to hold the 3rd annual Arts & Crafts Celebration on June 28-29, 2008. We have had excellent artists and crafters in the first two shows. We are really looking forward to the talent that will be represented in this year's show. The comments we have received about the show have all been positive and uplifting. We are determined to keep making improvements to this show to make it one of the best there is.
We invite you to join us for a wonderful weekend in Hill City, the heart of the beautiful Black Hills. There is so much to do in the area, we know you won't regret the trip.
We look forward to meeting you.
